Choose one six month challenge and one twelve month challenge
With Gold, you have a choice to either expand on your Silver challenges where this is possible or to choose something completely new. We suspect that lots of you will want to choose something new to keep your motivation high, but it's up to you.

The Gold Award is a big commitment. It's not easy, but it'll definitely be worth it. You will need determination, drive, good planning and support from those around you, the Elemental community and our fabulous award coaches. We know you can do it!

If you choose to expand on the challenges you completed for Silver we expect to see a greater level of difficulty or complexity - something that's really going to stretch you and help you strive for your goals. If you decide to take on a completely new challenge for Gold, we’d like to see you push yourself further, tackling something that requires more effort and skill than your Silver - After all, we want you to feel like you’ve really achieved something at the end!

For Move you can choose any activity that gets you active and improving your physical wellbeing. You can choose something that is completely new to you, or something you've tried before - but make sure it's something that you can sustain for twelve months. Just imagine how you might feel after investing twelve months in your wellbeing.

For Learn you will spend twelve (or six) months improving your knowledge of a subject or learning new skills. You could continue your Silver Learn challenge but you must be able to evidence a higher level of achievement, not just "more of the same".

To Give back to your community for twelve (or six) months is such a positive thing and will genuinely change the lives of those around you, as well as your own, if you let it. Small acts of kindness - reaching out to others, helping to provide local services - these are the small actions that lead to a big impact. You can continue your Silver volunteering or start something completely new.

For your Protect challenge, we want to see something more impactful than Bronze or Silver. It could be a minimum of three one off events (so that the reach or influence has a bigger impact than Silver). Your other option is to plan a series of events or activities so that you can achieve more and inspire a larger cohort of people to take their own actions.

Explore at Gold is a big undertaking. By now you might have some skills and experience under your belt from previous levels, and whilst it might still seem like a daunting prospect, it's going to be a fantastic adventure. You'll be going on a four day, three night mini expedition - human powered wherever possible.
You still have the option to learn more skills and gain confidence either through your Learn and Move challenges, or by signing up for some skills courses with our Outdoor Providers.

You will have access to a 1-2-1 chat with an award coach as you develop you challenge plans.
