Elemental exists because I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to grow, to feel proud of themselves, and to connect — with nature, with others, and with their own sense of possibility.
But we live in a world where that’s not the reality for everyone.
Access to challenge, to adventure, to personal growth — all of that is shaped by your income, your health, your background, your race, your disability, your gender, and a whole load of systems and structures that weren’t built for everyone.
I want Elemental to be different.
I want it to feel like something that belongs to *all of us* — especially those who’ve been left out, shut out, or told they’re not outdoorsy enough, not healthy enough, not confident enough. That is absolute nonsense. There’s no one way to grow. There’s no one way to be brave. There’s no one right kind of challenge.
So here’s what I’m committing to, and what I hope Elemental will stand for:
-
I will design Elemental to be flexible and accessible, so people can take part in a way that fits their life, body, and energy — not someone else’s idea of what a challenge should look like.
-
I will welcome feedback and being called out and will listen to all critique, especially from people whose voices often get ignored. This is a work in progress and always will be.
-
I will build partnerships with organisations and communities doing great work already — and aim to support, not replicate or overshadow them.
-
I will continue to learn about equity, justice, and inclusion, and bring that learning into the core of Elemental’s decisions, not just as an afterthought.
-
I will actively look to share power— so Elemental isn’t something I control, but something that can grow through many people, in many places, in many different forms.
