Helen Kenny Gough
Founder and Chief Ideator

My name’s Helen and I love coming up with new ideas, and when the idea of a challenge award for grown-ups hit me I knew I was on to something special. It brings together so many things I’m passionate about – exploring new places and ideas, bringing people together and taking positive action to care for our planet.

I didn’t grow up in an outdoorsy family, but I’ve grown to love the outdoors over the last thirteen or so years. That’s mostly down to meeting my wife Lisa (aka Mountain Goat). I’m now a qualified walk leader with Mountain Training, I’ve completed several National Navigation Awards and I run my own outdoor business. I’m passionate about helping people to enjoy the outdoors and the physical and mental benefits of spending time in nature – whatever your size, shape, experience or ability.

With a background in finance, volunteer management, international development and outdoor leadership, Elemental brings together all of my skills and experiences. I’m really excited to share it with you and I hope you love it as much as I do.

Hi, I'm Chris. I live on the South Coast of Wales and spend as much time as I can enjoying the beautiful hills and coastline across Wales and the UK.

I love the challenge that Elemental provides, giving people the motivation and drive to do more and experience new things, even when life is incredibly busy.

I hope that the Award brings people loads of smiles, a genuine sense of achievement....and maybe even pushes people outside of their comfort zones!

To say I am excited to join the team is such an understatement. I truly believe in what this challenge can do for those who want to expand their horizons, enhance a growth mindset and really enrich the day to day for themselves and for those around them.

I am loving supporting the development of the Elemental Challenge, building relationships with more partners and expanding what we can offer to our participants.

Award Coaches
Our team of award coaches have so much experience between them that they should all be wearing super hero capes.
They have worked with volunteers – as managers and coaches as well as having staff management experience. They’ve worked in the UK and overseas as part of local, national and international teams both in the private and third sectors.
They have tons of experience and qualifications in the outdoors, including Mountain Training qualifications, National Navigation Awards and Royal Geographical Society Offsite Safety Management. They’re ready and waiting to support and guide you through your awards.
